Day 2 : Kathamndu to Pokhara

Today it is a scenic drive of 6 hours west to Pokhara's where its unique charm as a mountain lake resort derives from its year round

temperate climate and stunning views of Machhapuchare (6997) and the mighty Annapurnas. Stay two nights at any of the good hotels at the lakeside like the Fish Tail Lodge on Phewa Lake, the excellent Shangrila Village Hotel or in the countryside 30 minutes by road outside of Pokhara, at the beautiful Tiger Mountain Village. For budget minded people, we have Barahi, Kantipur, and Base Camp Hotel.

Extension - You can have an opportunity to visit the famous MANAKAMANA - The Goddess of All Wishes - Temple by Cable Car which can be combined enroute with your Kathmandu - Pokhara drive.

The Bottom Station at Kurin is so strategically located near the highway and the trip to Manakamana will be attractive and enjoyable by making a break for the cable car ride to Manakamana. Thus the drive to Pokhara will not be tedious or monotonous within the existing package.

Since the 17th Century, MANAKAMANA DEVI has been widely venerated all over the country, also due to royal patronage. Manakamana or "wishes of the heart", people believe, that the Devi fulfills all wishes. In the past, devotees made their way to the shrine after a long arduous trek through the town of Gorkha. Today, MANAKAMANA DARSHAN PVT. LTD. with the technical management of the world famous Austrian Cable Car Company DOPPLEMAYR LTD. has started Nepal's first ever Cable Car service. The Cable Cars cover the 2.8 kms. stretch from Cheers along the Prithvi Highway right upto the temple in less than 10 minutes. With a total of 31 cars of 6 passenger capacity and 3 cargo cars, the number of devotees visiting MANAKAMANA DEVI is expected to many-fold.

The famous shrine of Manakamana lies about 12 kms. south of the historic town of Gorkha and 6 kms. north of Mugling on the Prithvi Highway. Mugling is 110 kms. west of Kathmandu and 90 kms. east of Pokhara. The shrine is located on a prominent ridge (1,302 m) overlooking the river valleys of Trisuli to the south and Marshyangdi to the west. In winter, because of the early morning mist, the ridge gives a dramatic appearance of apparently floating on a cloud.

The journey to the temple has always been a difficult one until now. With the introduction of the Cable Car, accessibility in all aspects has multiplied. It has now become a pilgrimage with pleasure.

Day 3 : Pokhara

Early morning drive to SARANKOT (45 minutes) with guide. Can be viewed a beautiful sunrise over the Annapurna range and overlook the valley of Pokhara. A view tower has been built on the top of Sarankot hill at an elevation of 1600 metres. Walk back towards Pokhara and hotel for breakfast. About 2 hrs.

After lunch leave hotel for sightseeing of POKHARA City visiting Tibetan Handicraft Center, Devin's Fall, Old Bazaar and Bindhyabasini Temple. + 1 hour Boating on Lake Phewa for romantic mood.

Day 4 : Pokhara to Chitwan

Today drive down, 4 hours to the Royal Chitwan National Park which lies in the lowland Terai of Nepal close to the border with India. The park is rich in wildlife - one horned rhinoceros, sloth bear, deer, gharial, crocodile and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. We recommend recently built Royal Wildlife Camp at Sauraha or Island Jungle Resort on Bandarjhora Island. Temple Tiger Lodge and Tented Camp (large safari tents complete with dressing room and canopied patio) is located on a bluff overlooking the Narayani River and with magnificent vistas of the Annapurnas in the distance. Temple Tiger is set in an area to the west of the park on the migration route, therefore, it is rich in wildlife and remote from the more heavily populated eastern sector of Chitwan. Viewing is by jeep, on foot or elephant back. Stay for two nights at any resort at the packagewise price.

Day 4 : Chitwan

Accompanied by trained naturalists you will search for wildlife on early morning and evening game drives.

Day 5 : Chitwan to Kathmandu

Return by air to Kathamndu. Alternatively, for those who wish to get 'off the beaten track' can extend their stay from Pokhara to trek in the Annapurnas.

Evening transfer to local restaurant for Nepalese dinner and culture show of traditional Nepalese dances. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6 : Kathamndu to other destination

Today visit morning Bhaktapur and afternoon Patan. Bhaktapur is noted for its beautiful wooden carved buildings and the Nyatapola Temple, the tallest pagoda in the valley. Ancient Patan is the artistic center of the valley and its fine architecture.

Return by air to your other destination. During your stay in Kathmandu we can arrange for you to take the Everest Mountain Flight a once in a lifetime experience - this 50 minute early morning flight offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. Hot Air Ballooning was introduced to Nepal in 1996 - this early morning one hour flight reaches heights of about 1500 m. above ground level (3000 m above sea level) with superb 360D. views across the Himalayas and Kathmandu.
